Dec 26 Christmas Cookie Collection 2021

This year my husband and I moved out of our Los Angeles apartment and into a house on a cul-de-sac in Temecula, CA. We've met most of our neighbors and have been lucky to find them universally warm and welcoming. Christmas cookie delivery seemed like a good way to meet those we hadn't yet and show appreciation for those we had.

In addition to the ones I list out below, I also made these Tahini Thumbprint Cookies with Dulce de Leche and my Pecan Shortbread Bars with a combination of Pecans and Macadamia nuts. The absolute best.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
My brother was also visiting at Christmas time and he's a serious chocoholic. These are the chocolatiest of all chocolate cookies, so I had to make these for him. Recipe on America's Test Kitchen. You can read about my experience making them the first time.

Citrus Shortbread Cookies
I use a recipe by Susan Spungen for NYT Cooking that calls for stamping them out. I've made them before with stamps and they were fantastic. This time I rolled out the dough with a patterned rolling pin and then cut them out. Recipe on NYT Cooking.

Christmas Tree Blondies
I used a Blondie recipe on America's Test Kitchen and cut them into triangles then drizzled with chocolate to resemble Christmas trees. I've made them before as written, this time I used dark chocolate and salted caramel chips with pecans.

Malted Brownie Biscotti
These were nice, but not as chocolatey as I might have liked though one of my neighbors claimed it was his favorite. Next time I'll add more chopped chocolate. The recipe is from Jesse Szewczyk, author of Cookies: The New Classics You can find it on King Arthur Baking.
