King Arthur’s Supersized, Super-Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
When King Arthur Baking sent out an email announcing their 2024 recipe of the year – these “Supersized, Super-Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies” – they broke the internet. Or at least they broke their own site for a number of hours. So when anyone asks the inevitable question: Does the world really need another chocolate chip cookie recipe? I think the resounding answer must be: Yes. Yes, we do. And really, if the world keeps writing them and I get to keep baking them (read: eating them), I’m on board.
Are these a high-maintenance cookie? Yes. I mean, they do wear the King Arthur crown after all. You’ll need to brown the butter, make a tangzhong starter, and chop mountains of chocolate. Though after all that it’s a simple stir-together method and you don’t need any special equipment. The harder part is waiting 24 hours or longer for the flavors to develop before you’re “allowed”to bake them. But develop those flavors do, and you’ll be rewarded with a batch of enormous, buttery, chocolatey cookies with notes of caramel to sink your teeth into. So practice your curtsy and make the King’s recipe for yourself.
