Saffron-Orange Madeleines

I recently had brunch with a couple of girlfriends who kindly shared some saffron and home grown oranges with me. I thought it would be fun to make something using both. Well, that same weekend I received “Sweet” by Yotam Ottolenghi and Helen Goh as a birthday gift and wouldn’t ya know, there was a recipe for Saffron, Orange, and Honey Madeleines. Destiny. Out of the oven, they get brushed with honey and dipped in pistachios. Pretty fabulous. 

Black Cocoa Leopard Milk Bread

Isn’t this leopard print bread eye-catching? It's made from a simple milk bread recipe that has cocoa kneaded into the dough to create the leopard spots. The baked bread has a soft texture and a very light sweetness with subtle cocoa and orange flavors. I thought it made for a nice breakfast, spread with some cream cheese or marmalade, and would make an impressive display if you’re having guests over for brunch.

Orange Cream Scones are the ultimate weekend comfort food. Perfect when you’re craving something a bit "extra" but not extra-effort. I love the simple joy of breaking them apart and letting them melt in my mouth. Cream scones flaky, tender and a little less crumbly than butter scones. I know you’ll love them as much as I do.

Strawberry Orange Chia Seed Pudding

I love the combination of strawberry and orange in this chia seed pudding. Strawberries can be wonderfully sweet on their own, but the citrus brightens them up and adds a little complexity to an otherwise simple pudding. The layer of strawberry sauce makes these pretty enough to serve for a Sunday brunch, and since you make them ahead, all you have to do is garnish them when serving. They can easily be made vegan by using almond or coconut yogurt.
