Pumpkin Chocolate & Caramel Chip Scones

Pumpkin Chocolate & Caramel Chip Scones

I'm a fan of pretty much any pumpkin spiced baked good (you can keep your pumpkin lattes), so when I spotted the Harvest Pumpkin Scones recipe on King Arthur Baking it was a given that these beauties would be on my fall baking list. I was having a chocolate craving at the time of baking, and I'd been itching to sample the salted caramel chips that had been calling to me from my pantry, so I dropped the minced ginger and cinnamon chips that the recipe calls for and added ½ cup dark chocolate chips and ½ cup salted caramel chips instead. More decadent? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. There's still plenty of ginger and cinnamon flavor in the scone itself and chocolate is a really nice compliment to pumpkin. The scones are nice and tender and full of fall flavor.

I'm not generally interested in a sweet breakfast, so for me these guys made an amazing afternoon pick-me-up. But if a morning doughnut is your thing...put it down and make yourself some of these!

P.S. A word about those salted caramel chips, I got them from King Arthur's site and they are INSANELY good. They don't seem to have them at the time of writing this but if they return, do yourself a favor and grab a bag!
