Walnut Whole Wheat Bread
Sometimes you just need a good sandwich bread. For staples like this, I’ll turn to one of my trusted recipe sources: King Arthur Baking Company. I tried out their 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread recently and wasn’t disappointed. It had just the right balance of nutty wheat and sweetness that made it versatile for a variety of sandwiches and breakfast toasts.

Yield:
1 loaf
Difficulty:
Moderate, only because you have to know how to shape a loaf. I’ve added a video demonstrated the technique below shaping (scroll down).
How I made it:
I only made a few modifications that were probably not really necessary: I sweetened it with maple syrup rather than honey, and doubled the amount of chopped nuts. I also added old fashioned oats to the top just before baking for added flavor, and I like the rustic look of an oat topped bread. I don’t suggest skimping on the sweetener, 5 TBSP of honey or maple syrup seemed like a lot when reading the recipe, but again, it provides necessary flavor balance and moisture to the 100% whole wheat bread.
Shaping the loaf:
If you’ve never shaped a loaf before, this short video below by A Perfect Loaf does a good, quick job of showing you how! Their page also has still photos of it.
