This simple, beautiful cake is ideal for those spring or summer nights when you want to delight family or friends with a surprise weeknight dessert. It comes together quickly and no fancy equipment is needed - just a whisk. The lemon is allowed to really shine thanks to the light flavor of ricotta and restrained amount of sugar.
Orange Cream Scones are the ultimate weekend comfort food. Perfect when you’re craving something a bit "extra" but not extra-effort. I love the simple joy of breaking them apart and letting them melt in my mouth. Cream scones flaky, tender and a little less crumbly than butter scones. I know you’ll love them as much as I do.
These easy, almost no-bake apricot almond granola bars are everything I wish the store bought varieties were: nutty, chewy, full of fruit and flavor. And with no refined sugar it’s even a healthy-ish snack. The light sprinkling of dark chocolate on top really brings out the apricot and ties it all together.
I love the combination of strawberry and orange in this chia seed pudding. Strawberries can be wonderfully sweet on their own, but the citrus brightens them up and adds a little complexity to an otherwise simple pudding. The layer of strawberry sauce makes these pretty enough to serve for a Sunday brunch, and since you make them ahead, all you have to do is garnish them when serving. They can easily be made vegan by using almond or coconut yogurt.
A thin layer of lemon scented marscapone hides beneath those beautiful, sweet strawberries. But the thing that makes this Strawberry Tart so special is the dollop of basil infused whipped cream on top. It’s such an unexpected complement to the berries and adds an extra sense of freshness to the dessert. These tarts would be the perfect way to cap a leisurely Sunday brunch.
To-die-for Chocolate Banana Scones. Bursting with melty, dark chocolate and warm undertones of cinnamon and nutmeg they are a sinfully delicious treat any time of day. And because these are made with both cream and butter they have a tender crumb but are also a little crumbly and craggy just as a scone should be.
A wonderful balance of chocolate, nuts and bananas make a muffin that’s equally good for breakfast or dessert!
You’ve never had English Muffins until you’ve had Homemade English Muffins. Try this crunchy and buttery recipe from Sarah Marks.
Pineapple Buns (Bolo Bao) are beautiful, soft milk buns that have a sweet crispy topping. They get their name from the pattern drawn into the topping rather than the ingredients. There are no pineapples in the bun!
These baked doughnuts are rich, chocolatey, and sweet enough to feel indulgent without being sugary. The amped up chocolatey-ness comes from the espresso powder and hot coffee mixed into the batter.
Coffee shop style baked goods are my favorite comfort food and these baked doughnuts are no exception. Tender cake with warm notes of vanilla and nutmeg. Make no mistake though, these are not diet food. They are just as deliciously decadent as the classic.
Swedish Cardamom Buns, known as Kardemummabullar in Sweden, were one of the best pastries I made last year. Twisted strands of soft dough slathered with a buttery spread that’s been drenched in cardamom. Incredible.
